Chapter 20

They entered the mansion together to see two people standing and glaring at them. A woman in her early 50's was standing there with a colorful saree and heavy make-up, with heavy jewelry adorned on her hands while wearing sun-glasses. While a man was is late 50's was standing with a prim and proper suit. Khushi stared at the duo while Arnav rolled his eyes. Arnav grabbed Khushi's hand and they strode in together.

Hello, Mama & Mami, how was your journey? asked Arnav politely while Khushi said Namaste in a polite manner, earning a grin from Mama. 

Mama & Mami were away, attending a wedding in Australia, when suddenly Arnav's and Khushi's marriage took place. Nani had informed them of her plans, but they couldn't just leave Australia so they had told Nani to carry on, and that they would their bahu, once they returned. 

Hello, hi, bye bye! Arnav bitwa! Did you not remember us 1 bit? Straight shaadi wa...aur phir honeymoon bhi! Now you want to hiiiide your bride wa too! Come here bitiya! exclaimed Mami.

Khushi went forward and went to touch Mami's feet, while Mami stopped her. 

Don't you know the rules wa? Bitya's don't touch elders feet in this house! Bahot kuch sikhana padega! Live well my bahu! Sasu ma, has made a lovely choice wa. She hugged Khushi while Khushi smiled. 

Do not fear, when Mami's here! Humre Arnav bitwa is khadoos but I will protect you! Wheneverr you have a problem, come to your Mami! Okay? asked Mami. 

Khushi nodded, already having a respect for this woman that was standing in front of her. Arnav smirked at his Mami. Seems like everyone liked Khushi and was somehow warning her of him. He turned to his Mama who was smiling at Khushi and Mami. 

Nani's health is getting better. Sameera was behind this - while we were away, explained Arnav. 

Yes bitwa, Anjali bitya told us! said Mama.

Pata nahi, kiski buri nazar lag gayi hain! said Mami with tears in her eyes. She looked at Khushi and looked back at Arnav and smiled her approval.

Don't worry Mami, everything will be fine. You both rest, you have just come back. Nani will be discharged soon and will come home, said Khushi.  

Mama & Mami soon retired to their room, while Khushi and Arnav went upstairs.

It had been a long day for both of them, after the travelling and then the time they had spent at the hospital was finally taking a toll on them both. Nani had now come home and she was in her room resting. Khushi had managed to take good care of her and make sure that all her needs were met. Payal was also helping her. It was now night time and they were all in Nani’s room.

Nani...are you feeling better now? Asked Akash.

Yes bete...I am good...it is definetly better than that hospital. You know how much I hate the color white, whined Nani.

Nani...aap bhi naa....you scared us all! Said Payal. Now you rest and we will see you tomorrow morning.

Nani shall I stay in your room for the night, just in case you need anything in the night, then I can be there to look after you. Said Khushi.

Khushi bete...I will be fine said Nani, but Khushi still looked unsure and Payal knew that.

Bhabhi...you don’t worry! I will stay with Nani for the night, plus you have been looking after her all day today, this is the least that I could do said Payal earnestly.

Hmm...okay...Khushi finally said but still looking unconvinced. She then glanced at Arnav briefly and felt instantly calm.

We will see you in the morning then Nani, said Arnav finally and then both Arnav and Khushi retired to their bedroom.

Arnav was sitting on the bed with his laptop, doing some work while Khushi was pacing around the room.

Dekha devi maiyaan? Just look at him...He is so busy and he is not even noticing me? 

Par what shall I do? 

Shall I sleep on the bed...or shall sleep on the sofa. 

No Khushi...it is your room right...I mean we are married  so I can share the bed with him plus in Italy we also shared the bed right?

But that was our honeymoon!  She blushes thinking about it.

Khushi what are you even thinking? She mentally curses herself.

This is Rakshas Raizada....he will probably yell at me if I sleep on the bed, it is probably safer to sleep on the sofa itself....yep...I should do that! She thought.

She then walked to bed, grabbed a few pillows and walked to the sofa.

Although Arnav was doing work, he was also secretly watching Khushi, what she is doing. He found it amusing that she was talking to devi maiyaan like always, looking up at the ceiling like the poor god was actually going to answer her. Then he saw her grabbing the pillows.

Oh that’s what she was restless about? He thought.

Umm...Khushi...what are you doing? Arnav asked calmly.

Going to sleep? Why? Asked Khushi.

I can see that...but when there is a bed, why are you sleeping on the sofa? He asked.

Tumhe kya darr lag raha hain? Arnav smirked.

(What are you feeling scared?)

Why should I feel scared? Asked Khushi, not that she wanted to know the answer to that question herself.

Umm...I don’t know...because...it is you and me alone in one room.....Arnav tried to scare her.

So what? I don’t feel scared of you! Said Khushi.

Really? Then come here and sleep....you don’t feel scared na...toh yaha aao....he said as a matter-of-factly.

No, I will sleep on the sofa...it is more comfortable, said Khushi.

More comfortable...yeah right! Stop this non-sense and come here now! shouted Arnav.

Oh and if you don’t want to come....I will come there and lift you and then bring you here, said Arnav.

Khushi walked up to the bed feeling dejected.

She slept on the right side, near the edge. Arnav closed his laptop, and then closed the lights and then fell asleep beside her. In a few minutes she was peacefully sleeping, he could hear her calm breathing. His hand grabbed her waist and pulled her to him, so her back was glued to his chest. He turned more into her and buried his face in her neck, and fell asleep.

In the morning Khushi was cuddled up with Arnav. Arnav felt some weight on him so he opened his eyes to see Khushi, sleeping against him, her head resting on his chest. He smiled looking at her antics. It was him who pulled her but she who snuggled closer to him, during the night. Her legs entwined with his. It was like she was practically sleeping on him.

Who was this girl? Oh yeah, his crazy woman!

In the night, she wanted to sleep on the sofa and now she is snuggled up next to me! He thought clearly amused by her behavior. He then gently moved her onto the side, so she doesn't wake up and then he went for a shower quietly.

By the time he came out of the shower, Khushi was already awake and was tidying up the bed. She turned around to be mesmerized by the gorgeous sight in front of her. Arnav was standing in his jeans but bare chested with a towel around his neck, looking like a Greek god. She stared a few seconds longer, at him. She then swiftly turned around, looking too embarrassed to actually talk to him.

Umm...I will go and get showered...saying that Khushi walked away, while Arnav smirked and got ready.

Khushi came out of the shower and Arnav was no-where to be seen. She quickly got ready and then headed downstairs. She headed down to the kitchen to talk to the chefs.

Khushi cleared her throat, the kitchen staff looked at her.

As you know Nani had a heart attack and that was due to the food she had been eating in the last 4-5 days. You are also aware that I gave you strict instructions of what Nani should eat and what she shouldn't eat so what went wrong?

The chefs looked down in shame.

Can someone please tell me what happened?

I can explain ma'am! said the head-chef. 

On the first day it went all well as we were preparing the type of food that you told us to prepare. However the next day, Nani had a guest which was staying with them a couple of days. 

We told her no many times that we could handle the kitchen but she insisted that she would come into the kitchen herself and make the food. She just wouldn’t listen to us. She then also sent us all out of the kitchen. 

We couldn’t say anything because she was a guest and we were to worried about that Mr. Raizada would get angry and fire us so we didn't say anything to her and let her do what she wanted.

But you should worry about your jobs now! Said Arnav, coming into the kitchen after listening to confession of the head chefs. 

Your one mistake could have costed Nani her life, shouted Arnav.

Please Sir....we did not do anything...we tried to make things but she wouldn’t let us! said the head chef.

Hmm...last warning said Arnav and then walked away. 

Khushi followed him silently.

What was that Arnav? said Khushi. 

How are they at fault?

They are not that’s why they are still here, said Arnav.

Arnav...everything will be fine....we will get through this....said Khushi.

They sat together...for some time, absorbing the surroundings.

Later Arnav was working, while Khushi was looking after Nani. She had been looking after her all day, tending to everything herself, from making food, to even reading to her. Arnav felt good to see Khushi do this for his family. She really didn't have to do anything but still she did. He could also see the change in Payal, although she is nice but she never looked after Nani like she does now. He was happy to see the change in her. Mami & Anjali also helped out occasionally. He could see them bond together. Mama and Akash helped out with business and attended office so Arnav could stay at home for a couple of days. 

He came out of his thought process when he heard his cell beep. He opened the text message. His eyes raged with fury when he read it.

“You probably had found out that I was the cause of Nani’s health but that was my revenge...you married that stupid girl and Nani had to pay the price for it! I loved you but you ruined by dreams....now my revenge is over.

How dare she? No...Sameera you are wrong! You started this game and I am here to end it....but like you I don’t play dirty....now you have to face ASR! he thought.
