Chapter 18

There was silence on the phone. The disastrous news had left Arnav speechless, never would he have imagined something happening to his Nani, especially when he was away. This was his Nani, she was everything to him, a perfect role model, something that he would always live up to, someone who he would share the smallest detail of his life. Nothing could happen to her while Arnav Singh Raizada was around. Tears left his eyes, thinking what condition his Nani would be in right now.

Please come back....I don’t know what to do...I am so worried...she is admitted in City hospital.

We will back as soon as we can....take care! Book tickets for the next flight leaving Italy said Arnav.

The next flight is in 2 hours said Akash.

Okay....take care of Nani..nothing will happen to her...bye! said Arnav.

Khushi came out from the washroom when Arnav had ended the call. She saw tears in his eyes, this was the first time she saw Arnav Singh Raizada weak and vulnerable, to his emotions. She left everything on the bed and went up to him.

Kya hua Arnav? You are looking so tensed! Said Khushi worriedly.

Nani has had a heart attack! He let out those words.

What? Is she alright?

Hmm...we will be going on the next flight to India, which is in 2 hours. Start packing.

Yes, I will do that now! said Khushi and she hurriedly got the bags out and started packing in a rush. Arnav soon joined and helped her.

Soon they were out of the hotel, and were checking into the flight.

It was 6 o’clock in the evening when they landed on Delhi airport. They straight away went to the hospital to see Nani. Soon as they arrived, they saw Anjali, Payal and Akash sitting by the ICU, looking like ghosts.

Arnav and Khushi rushed to them.

Akash....How did this happen? Arnav asked.

Woh...woh bhai...we thought that since you went on a honeymoon we should also do something so we made a plan of a picnic at the farmhouse, we were ready to go when Nani came down the stairs then she screamed, putting her hand to her heart and then fainted.

We brought her here...we showed her to the doctor...doctor said that she out of danger now but then she is still unconscious and then they shifted her to ICU.

Where is the doctor? Said Arnav.

It is a senior doctor named Dr. Shashank and his cabin is that way. Said Akash.

I am going to see the doctor, said Arnav.

I will come with you too, said Khushi.

They both went to see the doctor. They knocked and entered, to see a Arnav look up at them.

Hello how may I help you? Said the doctor.

Hi...I am Arnav Singh Raizada, Devyani Singh Raizada’s grandson and this is my wife Khushi.

Oh yes...hmm...

How is she doctor? Asked Khushi worriedly.

Her life is out of danger but we can’t really tell right now because she is unconscious and as you know there are always complications. So when she wakes up we need to do a thorough check-up. But I am worried about her.

Arnav knotted his eye-brows. Khushi looks worriedly at Arnav.

This could always happen again if she is not careful.

What do you mean? Asked Khushi.

Meaning that this was not caused by just old age...this was caused by the wrong food habits. She has been eating to many fatty foods recently an amount that her body cannot take which blocked one of her arteries so the blood was not being pumped around the body. 

This is what caused the heart attack. She now needs to be extra careful and keep to a healthy diet and you Mrs. Raizada should make sure that there is no negligence when it comes to her health.

Absolutely doctor, said Khushi.

Arnav and Khushi stood up and said bye to the doctor and left the cabin.

I don’t believe it....food habits’ caused this...the chefs are now going to face the wrath of Arnav Singh Raizada said Arnav.

Wait Arnav...there is something wrong....I gave special instructions to the chef before we left to what Nani should eat, all healthy food then how can it be that she is having unhealthy food. I don’t think it is the chef’s Arnav, I think it is something else and only Nani can answer this question.

What? You gave special instructions?

Yes, I did...then how come?

Whatever it is....we will find out!

Don’t worry Nanima will be fine...

Arnav and Khushi both returned to the family which were waiting outside I.C.U. Khushi went up to Payal and Anjali and tried to console them both. She sat beside them both and hugged both of them. Anjali and Payal looked like they had been drained out of all their energy. Khushi and Arnav shared a knowing look. Akash looked at the trio and walked up to his brother. 

Bhai, there is something else. Ma and Papa have also come back. They are getting ready and coming back to the hospital, said Akash. 

Okay, I am glad you called them, said Arnav. Akash nodded at Arnav.
