Well this is a very emotional chapter. I hope you like it. It explains a lot.
Love,
Mishty
Chapter 27
It was late at
night when they were still touching, fondling each other. Arnav’s hands were on
her back, making patterns while their feet were entwined together. It was the
most peaceful thing that they had ever experienced. Words did not have to be
spoken at that time. They understood each other just by their touch.
Soon Arnav’s hand
curved around Khushi’s waist and circled her navel, suggestively. Khushi let
out a giggle.
What? asked Arnav.
That tickles! She
whispered.
Well, it’s not my
fault that you are ticklish! He said, rubbing her skin more. He brought her
closer with his other hand. His hands traveled down from her back to her
derriere, giving it a slight squeeze. Khushi gasped. His hands were there.
He was watching
Khushi’s expressions with great interest. When she gasped, the smirk was back
on his face, his eyes shining with mirth. Khushi felt embarrassed. She was
turning red by the second. She tried to wiggle out of his hold. His eyes
widened in shock.
How could he not
realise this before? All those nights they had spent in Italy.
He didn't realise,
because he spent too much time thinking about her, missing the obvious.
That was she was so
soft!
Khushi, you are not
wearing a bra! It was a statement. A statement which shocked Khushi to the
core, at this man’s audacity. If her cheeks were red before, they were flaming
red now. She gave him a push and rolled to her side. She spent to seconds
trying to form a witty answer, but nothing came to her mind.
Um, Arnav, I can’t
sleep with my bra on! No woman wears a bra at night! She said that and she
turned away from him on her side and pretended to sleep.
Arnav wanted to
chuckle so badly but seeing his wife embarrassed and angry, he held it in. He didn't mean to offend her in anyway. He was just stating the obvious. He turned
to her side, and pulled her back against him, his strong calves trapping hers
while his hand was acting like an iron grip against her waist. His hands were inside
her kurti, and rested on her small waist. Khushi tried to move away from him
but couldn’t. She was a trapped prisoner.
Khushi! I didn't mean to embarrass you! To be honest, I will be okay with you wearing nothing as
well! He said chucking.
I want you to be as
comfortable as you want, he said. He slowly turned her around and gently kissed
her on the cheek reassuring her that he was just joking and teasing her. Khushi
smiled seeing him chuckle. It was the most precious sound that she had heard
until now. She wanted to savor this moment, so badly.
She turned more
into him, her head resting in the crook of his neck.
Tell me about her,
she whispered.
Arnav didn't pretend to not understand what she meant. His eyes darkened. He got up with
her, turned the light on and sat against the headboard, pulling her in between
his legs so she sat with her back against his chest. His arms snaked around her
waist. His head buried in her shoulder, inhaling her floral scent.
He was dreading
this story but he knew to move on with his life, he would tell her. He would
tell her the truth, from the beginning.
Why
he was ASR and not Arnav?
Why didn't he used to believe in love?
Why
his anger always got the better of him?
Why
he used to spend the days working his ass off?
He
would tell her his story. She had the right to know.
Khushi when I was
14, I saw my mother suicide when my Di, was taking her nuptial rounds. I was
going to call her when someone told me that they saw her go up to the terrace. When
I got there, I saw her jumping off the terrace. I was too late. I couldn’t save
her. I stood there, not knowing what to do. My Di, was just about to get up to
do the 7 rounds around the holy fire, when I arrived to inform her. I was just
about to inform her when we all heard the gun-shot so we ran towards the room.
That day, I lost
two of my parent’s khushi. It was later we found out that my father had a
mistress, when my mother found out, she went to ask him, why he did this? Why
did he need to do this? She couldn’t take the stress Khushi, so she committed suicide
and my fucking father; he committed suicide after realizing his mistake. He
couldn’t take the fact that our mother committed suicide because of him.
That day, I realized that my mother loved my father but all she got in return was unfaithfulness
from him. From that day on-wards no-one in this house take his name. My sister’s
wedding was called off due to this. Our uncle chucked us out, wanting the
property. At that tender age Khushi, me and my sister had become homeless. It
was Mami, Mama & Nani who took us in. They provided us a shelter, food,
clothing. That was what selflessness was Khushi. Mama worked day and night so
we could go to college. Mami sold her jewellery so we could buy books, Nani
sold her land so we could have buy food, afford electricity in the house and
heating.
I soon recovered
from my loss and went to College to study, earn back everything we lost. I owed
my life to this family. No-one would do this much. Akash soon started to call
me, bhai. I liked that. Di, soon recovered as well, and helped around the
house. Time was tough. That was when I met Sameera. Initially we became friends,
and we then started to date. She was a quiet girl and that was why we used to
get along. Then I thought that I was in love with her, and so I proposed to
her. The family liked her, expect Nani.
Nani used to say
that this girl had no manners, no decorum as to how to respect elders. Sameera
was a modern girl and used to dress that way. I had no problem with that. Soon
we got engaged. It was 4 days to the wedding when I wanted to give her a
surprise, so I went to her house without telling her. Her door was unlocked. I
opened it slightly to see Sameera kissing another guy. He was well suited. She
was two-timing on both of us.
It was then I realized she might like me but she loves money more. She was with him, only
for the money. That was when I went inside and just slapped her and told her
that it was all over. The other guy was shocked too and then left the apartment
angry. I too left – throwing the ring in her face.
That was the second
thing – I realized That money and power was everything. If you had that,
people would fawn at your feet. I worked my life my ass off trying to
re-establish everything. I named the company in my mother’s name. She was a Raizada
while my father was a malik. I bought back everything, Mami’s jewellery, Nani’s
land. We bought a bigger house and shifted there. I got them every bit of luxury
that they could even think of. I guess that was my way of re-paying them back.
This was why I
never believed in love Khushi, because the only love I had seen destroys you. I
became ASR while pushing myself into more work. Yes there were girls but only
for flings. They meant nothing. Girls to me were nothing, until you came into
my life. You are mine Khushi! Only mine!
Don’t you dare
leave me because without you I am ASR, not Arnav.
Khushi couldn’t
take any of his words anymore. Tears were pouring out of her eyes. She turned
around in his arms and sealed his lips with hers. Their tongues dueled in a
battle where only their love would win. Her hands snaked around his neck
pulling him closer. They soon stopped.
I will never leave
you! I am only yours! said Khushi.
That was the only
thing that needed to be said.
Arnav brought her
closer and kissed her on her forehead. They soon slept together, cuddling each
other, waiting for the next morning.
